This protection involves wrapping the tanks with corrugated material resembling tiles, with the aim of defending the vehicles against Ukrainian drone attacks.

The covering, reminiscent of a house atop a tank, aims to safeguard the most vulnerable parts of the vehicles, such as the roof, from small drones.

In Ukraine, these tanks have been dubbed “wundervaflia,” a combination of the German word for “wonder” and the Ukrainian word for “waffle,” referring to the similar appearance to a waffle pattern. According to ‘The Economist‘ magazine, this tactic helps protect the tanks from drones, which are responsible for destroying about two-thirds of Russian vehicles.

President Vladimir Putin stated that Russian forces are advancing as planned, improving their positions daily along the Ukrainian front. He emphasized that progress is being made despite significant financial and military aid received by Ukraine from the United States and its allies. In a meeting with top officials, Putin praised the work of the Armed Forces and stressed the importance of effective progress in resolving the conflict peacefully.
